How to Plan the Most Magical Christmas Sleepover Party for Your Child

Christmas is the most magical time of year for children. A teepee sleepover party in December takes that magic and turns it into something your child will remember for years to come.

Why December birthdays deserve something extra special

If your child has a December birthday, you will already know the feeling. The birthday tends to get swallowed up by Christmas. Presents get combined. Parties get squeezed in between school events and nativity plays. The day that should be all about them ends up sharing the spotlight with tinsel and carols.

A teepee sleepover party gives a December birthday child something that is completely and entirely theirs. A night styled just for them, with their name on everything and their friends around them in the most magical setting I can create. It is a birthday that feels like a birthday, not an extension of Christmas.

And for children who do not have December birthdays but simply love Christmas? A festive teepee sleepover in the run up to the big day is one of the most exciting treats of the whole season.

Start planning earlier than you think

December is the busiest month of the year for sleepover parties. School Christmas events, nativity plays, carol concerts and family commitments all compete for the same weekends. If you would like real choice over which weekend works best for your family, I would always recommend securing your December date as early as you can.

The good news is that securing your date only takes a 25% deposit. The balance is not due until 14 days before the party, so you can lock in your preferred December weekend now without a big upfront cost. Everything that is included is laid out on our prices page.

Choosing the right theme for a Christmas sleepover

This December we are bringing Elf Academy, our festive theme, to homes across Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire, plus parts of Berkshire. It is our most enchanting seasonal setup, with warm fairy lights glowing through cream canvas teepees, Santa and elf soft toys, festive props and hot chocolate waiting on every styled tray. It feels truly magical and completely unlike any other Christmas party experience.

Elf Academy is open for bookings now. Sleepovers are £45 per teepee, one for every child, with a minimum of two and up to ten. If you would like a little extra sparkle, our add ons include personalised keepsakes, midnight snack boxes and our Ultimate teepee cinema night, which is perfect for a Christmas film under the fairy lights. If your child would rather have one of our year round looks, you can browse all of our teepee sleepover party themes too.

Practical tips for planning a December sleepover

Space is the most important consideration. Each teepee is 130cm tall, 120cm wide and 120cm deep, with a 185cm mattress extending out in front. You need roughly 2 metres of clear floor space per child, from the back of the teepee to the nearest wall. At Christmas most living rooms already have a tree and decorations in place, so it is worth thinking about the layout before you book. Just message me your room dimensions and I will tell you exactly how many teepees will fit comfortably.

Think about the timing, because December weekends fill up extremely fast. The first two weekends of December tend to have more availability than the middle or end of the month. If you are hoping for a date in the final two weeks of term, it really pays to book early.

Keep the guest list manageable. A teepee sleepover for four to six children is the sweet spot over Christmas. Large groups are wonderful, but I still teach, so every December I see how quickly festive excitement can tip into overwhelm for some children, particularly the younger ones. Four close friends plus the birthday child is often the perfect combination.

What Sweet Dreams Events takes care of

Everything. I set up the full themed teepee party before your guests arrive, usually two to three hours before party time. Every piece of bedding is freshly laundered, every prop is checked and every tray is styled by hand. I come back the morning after, usually between nine and eleven, to pack everything away. You do not need to prepare a thing beyond clearing the floor space and being ready to watch your child's face when they walk in.

Where we cover

Sweet Dreams Events covers Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire, plus parts of Berkshire. I regularly set up parties for families in Esher, Weybridge, Cobham, Virginia Water, Farnham, Godalming, Guildford, Leatherhead, Epsom, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, Horsham, Fleet, Winchester and the surrounding areas. If you are not sure whether we reach your town, just get in touch and I will let you know. We are rated five stars on Google and recommended in the Muddy Stilettos Little Black Book, which still makes me smile every time I say it.
